My, I know you are pushing yourself when you insist on work.

[He cards his fingers through Emet-Selch's hair, gentle, rhythmic, petting a cat.]

I have been trying to help him with his emotions and impulses but I will defer to you on this. Perhaps it will be better for him from you.

I'm not as diligent as you or Five, but I do not shirk my duties.

[He gives a half-hearted glare with no heat.]

I will not be kind to him or spare him. I intend to be cruel for what he did to you. I will not allow this an excuse again.

I know. You have never once failed in your work.

[He twirls a lock of Emet's hair between his fingers, smiling down at him.]

I intend to extract my own promises of the man. But for all your ire and hurt, you do seem to be giving them both another chance.

Lahabrea. I have. You do not need to feed me false platitudes.

[But he does squeeze his fingers.]

A chance is different than trust. Unfortunately both are terribly isolated.

[He sighs!]

Must I make my praise so specific? You have almost never failed your work then. Really, Hades, I am not trying to feed you lines. You have ever been reliable, for all I complain of your work ethic, I know more than anyone else that you, most of all, will achieve what you set out to.

[He keeps twirling the hair until it is wound up, then lets it go to unwind, brushing his fingers through it to straighten it and push back into the rest of Emet's hair again.]

I know. My dearest heart. Of all who knows the separation of love and trust, I certainly do.

[He pushes himself up and wraps his arms around Lahabrea, resting his forehead against his.]

Forgive me, my temper is short, and you are the last person that deserves my ire.

Though I supposed I should ask. Do you believe they deserve a second chance?

[He slips his arms around Emet's back to support him, forehead resting is go.]

I do.

Though a little squirming is in order at least.

Perhaps it is my current state but I am not so eager to burn the bridges we have both built.

I would try not to burn them in rashness. We can always dissolve them later should we not need them.

[He leans back attempting to switch their positions and get Lahabrea to rest his head in his lap.]

[He considers resisting but he is too tired and so, head in Emet's lap it is, lifting his hand to rest his fingers at the back of Emet's neck.]

Mm. Their actions were not done with malice or ill-intent. I cannot find the energy in myself to be mad for anything but being separated from you, and for the betrayal that hurts your heart.

[He runs his fingers through Lahabrea's hair, scratching his scalp. Looking down at him fondly.]

I know. 'Tis that reason why they get a chance at all.

Now, what can I do for you? Read. Tell tales. Perhaps take you to the beach or the balcony to see the stars. Or simply pet your hair and caress your skin until you relax.

[He returns the look with affection, kneading the back of Emet's neck with his fingertips.]

What would relax you, Hades? Holding each other under the stars, perhaps?

Just you truly.

[Continuing to pet and massage his scalp.]

Having you here is more than relaxing my nerves, smile or no. I worry for you terribly at the moment. Your mood. Your physical health. Your facilities.

I simply wish for you to be alright.

[He will rub the back of Emet-Selch's neck lightly with his fingertips.]

I know. So long as I have you I can promise I will recover.

So I suppose that makes just each other the most effective medicine.

[Leaning down to kiss his forehead.]

Hasn't it always been that way for a thousand thousand lifetimes.

[He does look up and regard the soup on the table.]

Would you care for something else?

It has. And yet the old remedies are the best still.

[He follows Emet-Selch's gaze and shakes his head.]

I find I have no appetite. Do not fret, I am eating as much as I can bear.

[Leaning down and kissing his forehead.]

I know. Trust me, I do. And I appreciate the effort you are putting in. It must be harrowing.

Less so with your company.

'Tis safe to say they would need quite the industrial crowbar to keep me away from your presence. I will remain here as long as you need me.

Though I am glad you have the company of others.

Then I an afraid you will never have opportunity to leave.

But between you and Five I am well looked after.

Good. I can only imagine this is overwhelming for him on an emotional level, but never is he one to shy away from what he believes.

He is coping by keeping busy I think.

[He sits up though, out of Emet's lap, snagging some paper and looking it over then discarding it, repeating that until he finds the right set of formulas to pass over. More animated though it is somewhat frenetic.]

Math is math, but I have been attempting to convert his formulas to arcane for ease. It would be no trial for you or I to traverse to rift to his world but for him to get back to our star is another matter.

[He pauses.]

I do get ahead of myself though. I told you we spoke a while.

I will take care of him after I'm satisfied with your condition.

[He takes the paper and holds it out in front of him to read it. With his other hand he rubs circles at base of his neck.]

I aught to give you his formulas on teleportation that he transcribed for me. I do see some similarities as I've already tried to convert them.

[He simply nods at that.]

[He leans on Emet-Selch's shoulder, relaxing again.]

Do. But I did mean to speak to you of what I and Five discussed before we go relaxing. I do not think that our current plans are viable.

I do not believe our current plans to be a viable solution to the salvation of our star.

How shall I put this.

I believe the tempering has clouded our judgment. Made us fixate on a singular path when others are available.
