[ but he does shift to hold his hand, lacing their fingers immediately ]

[He tugs him then into Five's room and sits down with him still holding his hand.]

What happened?

[ he's quiet for a few moments when he asks, partly because it feels ridiculous to make such a big deal out of it ]

I had a bad falling out with Hythlodaeus. To be honest it had been building up for a while, but I was trying to just push past it. Especially since now he's involved with my brother too.

It's essentially nothing.

[ but it obviously bothers him ]

Yet it bothers you greatly.

[He squeezes his fingers.]

I will not push or judge on the specifics. Ever have I put faith in your judgments, and he was my sounding board so long ago.

And I would not want you to simply push past something for my sake.

He doesn't understand me and acts as if he knows everything then pushes his judgmental views on me. He apologized for making a poor comment on how I should act with Luther and not even a minute later said it would happen again. Every time I told him to leave him alone he didn't and he stayed there despite how increasingly upset I got. He told me he wanted to understand me earlier so I let him come here but we argued again because he still doesn't get what bothered me.

And every time he judges me I think of you and I get even angrier.

[ a pause ]

I know you wouldn't care to force me to get along with him. You didn't care when I couldn't stand Cardinal.

But he's your dearest friend.

I wanted to like him.

Levity is in charge of his own actions. His not unlikable. He has his own allies and friends he has made in such a short time here. But not every person can responds the same to certain tactics.

Not that I need to tell you this.

[He kisses his hand again.]

Do not think I am approving his actions. Your relationship with your family is unique, tangled, full of love, full of pain, and certainly your strength and weakness. I have no doubts it will blossom, but that you siblings to determine.

[And he kisses his forehead.]

I know you tried. With all your heart. For you would do no less. Not about something you care about.

And don't think I note the protectiveness. I am endeared. And it does loom, does it not? Which side will he favor. I don't think you will ever be able to trust him until he has made the decision for yourself. So perhaps it is best to try again in earnest only after. See what he does with the rope given.

I know I tend to break out the worst parts of myself when I'm on the defensive so it isn't as he's the only one to blame.

But you're right.

I will never trust him until I see how he reacts. Whether he breaks your heart or not.

[ he'll let go of his hand but only to get that embrace now ]

Well, I was trying to be a little careful. Even I am ever careful about touching upon your familial relationships.

[He hugs him back tightly and kisses the top of his head.]

It shouldn't be, I have argument with people all the time. Including with my family. Well. Before this place at any rate. And I'm far too old to be this bothered by it or seek validation.

But I suppose it did hit on several buttons.

[ a pause, then he adds ]

The age up potion was an accident by the way. I got drunk with a guy. I wouldn't have taken it if I had been sober.

But have you ever felt such a protectiveness before? I'm flattered by the way.

Decompress. You're obviously wound up. And some time apart might soothe you both.

[He does chuckle a little.]

I was going to ask, but we were having a serious moment. Was it at least a pleasant experience or do I need to shoot this person?

You're right. I haven't. This is rather new for me.

It was pleasant, just embarrassing. We got into a drinking contest and one thing lead to another.

At one point I showed him pictures of you.

I didn't lose by the way.

You got in a drinking contest, decided to take an age up potion, and one of the first things that came to your mind was to show him pictures of me?

[He grabs his chin.

And kisses the tip of his nose.]

It wasn't one of the first things, we ended up getting very intimate.

But I did gush about you before any of that. So yes. Apparently declaring how great you are and how much I love you is one of the first things my mind jumps to when I'm drunk, you are free to let that inflate your ego.

Well, I am glad you enjoyed yourself. And consider my ego inflated for the day.

But I would have one request of you, if the day hasn’t been too taxing.

The day has been very taxing but doing something for you would improve my mood considerably.

When do I get to meet him?

[ The more affection he's shown the more he's just completely basking in it. Funny how being with Emet for even a second just makes everything feel easy to bear no matter what it is. He'll dance with him and happily take the lead, enjoying it as he always does because after all, he is the boss. ]

The guy I got drunk with? I am not setting you two up, between the two of you I won't survive the encounter.

But he is Wild City's newest. Caeli, or Mora.

[He’s enjoying it as he always does. And he is worried about Five being to hard on but that doesn’t need to be addressed right now.]
