[ he gives him a small smile at that, and definitely seens to find comfort in the arm around him ]
I have been considering that there's a chance we're all dead, and I haven't remembered yet. But even so, it doesn't matter. I wouldn't let that stop me.
I think caretaker might be pushing it a little too far. And I do dislike the idea of giving any credit to my father - he was the one who wanted us to save the world, after all.
[He simply nods. 'Hero' as a concept is complicated!]
Though returning to an earlier topic, how are you managing with the loneliness. You've had quite a bit of change recently with not only new unitmates but Delores as well.
No, it's still just that one, actually. But I hadn't tested it before and now I have.
I can declare any law as long as it hasn't happened yet, or is not happening right that moment. So for example, I wouldn't be able to stop someone from stabbing me, if they're doing it. But I could declare "no one can die here" and ensure my survival that way.
Of course, I'd die the moment I leave the area if I don't get healed, but so long as I stay within it, it won't be a problem.
If I used to make my way up your balcony, so long as I don't fall and crash to my death before I remove the law, I'd be able to do it just fine.
How curious, I thought it would only affect a person's perception. As an example to avoid fighting. I didn't realize it could actually influence the reality around you.
Considering your brilliance, it is a good match for you.
It alters reality the same way a contract would, but is much easier to use. I can influence the speed of bullets as well, for example, or prevent ability usage.
Of course, anything I declare will apply to myself as well. But you're right that it's a good match, and I'm quite pleased with it. I did find our power-set disappointing before.
You were lamenting about proper combat abilities. It seems that has been resolved. Though it does seem I need to purchase another gun now that I remember.

[ a pause, and then he adds ]
You will see them again too. Your loved ones.
Re: 242 Evening
[He pauses, looking thoughtful.]
Ever will I strive, but I would be lying if I thought the possibility more unlikely than likely. 'Tis just the reality of the situation.

In that we are very similar.
Re: 242 Evening
Not a bad thing in my book.

If I didn't love my world I wouldn't have done half the things I did. Not to mention my family, obviously.

Saving the world implies heroism --- a righteousness you do not have.

Re: 242 Evening
It's becoming more manageable over time. It felt suffocating before, but now it's not as much as a pressing thought.
I'd be lying if I said I don't still feel lonely, from time to time. But it's becoming easier, knowing I have people around me.
Re: 242 Evening
And I suppose if you do get lonely, the balcony is kept open for a certain someone. I'm sure you could fit if you manage to make your way up there.
Re: 242 Evening
Re: 242 Evening
You would ruin an old man's sleep?
Re: 242 Evening
Though I suppose I could use Taisho's newest ability to make myself weightless, or stick to surfaces until I'm there.
I don't believe I've told you about it yet, have I.
Re: 242 Evening
Another ability change? I remember the one about Common Law. Well, go on.
