I wish I had an answer for that, but I don't, and you're right. Nothing could possibly have been worth it.

Though it's possible the visions we saw clouded their judgement, and at that point they may have thought it was a matter of survival. It doesn't excuse it. But it's an explanation.

I am hinting at that conclusion with Absinthe. Ever has he disliked afflictions of the mind with good reason.

I don't imagine he'll be far from your mind for long, or ever, but stewing on it won't provide you with a solution. For now, focus on the fact that he is still here, and is determined to stay. He will not leave you alone, no matter how much pain he's in.

As I said, while painful, there are little things that these illusions can tell us about ourselves.

Such as one's ideal wedding charm.
