[Persephone, you are too adorable.

He will carry him until they reach their stop to which he'll put him down and hold out his hand again.]

This is our stop.

[just don't think about this cute child growing up into Persephone and the sadness that had to happen to make it be. or maybe do, who knows. and will adjust the firebird in his other arm before he takes his hand.]

It isn't really a beach. More of water finally reaching up to a concrete wall, but there is a bench, some grass, and a little scenic spot for him to enjoy. He let's go of his hand once they get close.]

[going to take the firebird to go look over the wall with him, carefully.]

[It's only a foot or two high. A break in the tides. Below the bay laps against it. It smells like the sea and sounds like it. Quiet and soothing.]

[is holding on very tightly to the firebird as he moves it so it can see the sea, too.]

[He trusts him not to fall in, but he does stand close enough to grab him if he needs to.

He's just letting Persephone enjoy himself.]

[he's being very careful, even as he's sitting on the edge with his legs dangling over, the firebird perched in his lap.]

Did you have such a vast body of water near to where you grew up?

I didn't live by the sea...but by a very large river.

Did you visit it often?

My village is right next to it, and one of the gods I serve is the river god.

One? Tell me of your gods though. I do find them so fascinating.

There are a lot of gods, because everything has a god or spirit.

But the three local gods I serve are the river god, the founder of our village, and a fertility and harvest god.

Is it simply you? Or are there others that assist in serving the gods?

There are priestesses. But I am the only maiden.

I'm afraid I don't understand the difference.

They run the shrine and do most of the...official things? Like the divination for when it's most auspicious to do rites. [he means administrative] I only talk to the gods and perform the rituals and ceremonies.

Do you they actually talk back?

[nods] And the river god and the fertility god manifest when I do ceremonies...

Would you mind explaining to me what these gods say? The tales of what they can do?

In exchange for devotion, they...grant us their favor. Abundant water, enough food so that we can eat and pay the taxes...

But the taxes keep raising, do they not?
