Did you have such a vast body of water near to where you grew up?

I didn't live by the sea...but by a very large river.

My village is right next to it, and one of the gods I serve is the river god.

There are a lot of gods, because everything has a god or spirit.

But the three local gods I serve are the river god, the founder of our village, and a fertility and harvest god.

They run the shrine and do most of the...official things? Like the divination for when it's most auspicious to do rites. [he means administrative] I only talk to the gods and perform the rituals and ceremonies.
