Perhaps merely out of desire to have some link to my home. My other memories only have to do with people.

It may not have been happy as such, but... Was it not a sign of how important our work was?

Well, it was during the time when you were still trying to avoid me. But I'm curious now - what would you have suggested?

[He taps his chin.]

Something round. With large eyes. Squishy. Never loses its shape even when prodded repeatedly.

A marshmallow perhaps.

Did you know that's what Lily kept calling me? A s'more, a marshmallow, a souffle.. Though now I am 'Snowflake' to her.

All of those are apt. Lily is quite wise.

But that makes for a less imposing and useful familiar.

It does. Besides, I'm uncertain how you could make a metallic marshmallow.

Maybe it would have even ended up like one of those things Ardyn showed me.

Not the most sightly of creatures.

Those strange blobs were not, no. He showed me another creature as well, however... Quite elegant in its own way, if still more than morbid.

[It was a necromancer and Levity burnt his fingers on the spooky ghost flames]

Well, whom am I to judge your taste and curiosity.

[He curls into him.]

Still should have chosen the marshmallow.

[Cute... he pets Emet's back gently.]

Shouldn't you pick something more dignified for your second in command?

[He just pokes his belly at the comment.]

...Is this an implication that I'm putting on weight?

Well, I would say I am plenty soft already!

You are. I do worry about you. But you also have a strength few can match.

...Lily said the same. I do hope you are right. But I can't say I often feel strong.

Your strength is in your connections. There is little we can do alone.

[He smiles, but can't help poking Emet on the nose.]

I must say, this has less of an impact than you must have hoped for, given that one of my connections is likely severed now.
