Ah, worry not. Tampering with it would require being in a position of power to do so - that is, becoming a demon, and that's not something I can do. No, it's knowledge I'm after - and with enough knowledge, would it not be possible to change this system? It's also a curious thought that they focus so much on... well, negative emotions. Perhaps simply because it's easier to orchestrate?

In terms of entertainment, suffering is more of a spectacle than joy. Or at least a great challenge must be presented to the heroes of the story.
